I made a mistake in the diagram pin numbering showing the serial connection to the Olimex ESP8266-DEV board. The ground should connect to pin 2 as shown using the numbering in the revised Fig.6.

Hi Mike I love the series in PW so don’t stop ! I saw your comment about the ground
pin on the OLIMEX ESP8266 and checked my board and the GND pin is pin 2 on the UEXT
connector. PIN 1 being shown as 3.3V. My board is an OLIMEX ESP8266-EVB-BAT so may be its different ?

Hi Laurence, Glad you’re enjoying the articles. It seems I made a mess of the pin numbering!! I’ve now updated my post with a new version of Fig 6 that should be correct.
