Hi Bill, I sent you a direct email answering this but I haven’t heard back. The RTL-SDR Dongle Server only contains the server. It is designed to make the SDR dongle available on your local network so you can access it using SDR Sharp/SDR Console from another machine. There are two main scenarios where this is useful:
1 – For VHF/UHF monitoring the dongle and server can be located close to the antenna therby avoiding the high feeder losses.
2 – Simply to make the SDR dongle available on your local network. The dongle could be located in the shack but, with the latest WiFi6 or Ethernet connection you could listen on another computer on the local network,

New here. Does the dongle server software include the rtl-sdr “client” to view the frequencies? I mean do I need another app to attach to the server and begin monitoring on my screen?

I got it yesterday, tock less than fifteen minutes to install. It worked flawlessly; the document is very well written, easy to understand. I highly recommend this product.
I am using it with a HF capable RTL Dongle to monitor wide part of the ham bands. It is to be a permanent installation in my shack.
