Hi Lee,
It's a perfectly reasonable question :-)

The software will automatically recognise the internal soundcard in your FT-991, so there's no need for another card.

Hi Robert,

It usually accepts US codes ok. Have you changed the country to USA. If you don't change the country it will expect to see UK post codes. Mike

Hi Ulf,

Sorry to hear you're having problems. Spy Server and SDR # tend to get confused when you change receivers. Try the following sequence and let me know how you get on.
power off the PI
Exit SDR #

Power-on the Pi
When it's finished booting Open SDR# and try and connect.

Regards,

Hi Mike,
I recently bought your Spyserver SD card and installed it on a Pi4B. With a RTL dongle the server worked fine remotely from SDR #. When I tried it with my Airspy Discovery/HF Dual port I get the errror message "Server busy" when I try to connect from SDR #. I use latest version of SDR#. Any idea of whats the problem?
Best regards SM7FQX Ulf

Hi Glenn,

Yes, the WSPR mode is part of the WSJT-X suite so it will work fine with the Pi.

Hi Mike, I've had some time to play with the PI and data modes, most impressed so far with the FT8 rx only app!, especially when running from a kenwood handy with HF rx!. Next question is if the inbuilt software can be used to run WSPR from the PI as is, or do i need a specific app to do this?

In reply to <a href="https://photobyte.org/downloads/#comment-356508">Glenn Bukin</a>.

Hi Glenn,

Thanks for buying one of my cards. The Pi should work fine with an old valve rig, but with a few precautions. The audio side is straightforward as, for receive only, you just need a single screened lead to link between the Microphone input on your USB soundcard and the audio output on your rig. I don't think The FT200 or FR101 have line-level audio outputs, so you will need to tap the audio from the headphone or speaker output. You might find it helpful to add a 10k potentiometer in this lead so you can set the correct audio level into the Pi.
If you want to use rig control (assuming those rigs support it) you need to be careful with the interface voltages. Many older rigs use 12V signalling on the RS-232 port, whereas most modern USB to serial adapters work on 5V or 3.3V signalling. If you want a ready-built interface, the excellent DigiRig unit is available with 12V signalling.

Hope that helps,

Mike - G4WNC
